Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, cedar forests, Ziz Valley, and the golden dunes of the Sahara before crossing the High Atlas Mountains to reach Marrakech. Although short, this itinerary includes camel trekking, a desert sunset, and an overnight stay in a desert camp.

2-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour

  • Distance: ~460 km
    Driving Time: ~7–8 hours (with stops)

    • Early morning departure from Fes.

    • Drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains.

    • Stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

    • Pass through Azrou cedar forest to spot Barbary macaques.

    • Lunch stop in Midelt.

    • Scenic drive through Ziz Valley, famous for its palm groves and kasbahs.

    • Arrive in Merzouga in the late afternoon.

    • Camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes to watch the sunset.

    • Dinner and overnight in a Sahara desert camp (standard or luxury).

    • Berber music and stargazing by the campfire.
