This 2 Days Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour is a fast-paced Sahara adventure designed for travelers with limited time who want to experience Morocco’s iconic landscapes in just two days. The journey takes you from the vibrant city of Marrakech across the spectacular High Atlas Mountains, through ancient kasbahs and dramatic valleys, all the way to the golden dunes of Merzouga.

On day one, you travel via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass, visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, and continue through Ouarzazate and desert oases before reaching Merzouga. A memorable camel trek at sunset leads you deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you spend the night in a traditional Sahara desert camp, enjoying Berber music and stargazing.

Day two begins with a magical sunrise over the Sahara, followed by the return journey to Marrakech via Erfoud, Todra Gorge, and the Dades Valley. Crossing the High Atlas once again, you arrive back in Marrakech in the evening.

Although the driving distances are long, this tour offers a complete Marrakech–Merzouga–Marrakech desert experience in a short time, combining culture, scenery, adventure, and an unforgettable night in the Sahara.

2 Days Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour

  • Your journey starts early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), stopping for panoramic views and photos.

    Continue to the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll enjoy a short visit and free time to explore. After lunch, pass through Ouarzazate and travel along the Valley of Roses and Skoura Oasis.

    In the late afternoon, reach Merzouga at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes. Mount your camel and ride into the desert to watch the sunset over the golden dunes. Arrive at your desert camp, enjoy mint tea, a traditional Moroccan dinner, and Berber music under the stars.

  • Wake up early to watch a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, ride camels back to Merzouga village and begin the return journey to Marrakech.

    Travel through Erfoud, known for fossils, and stop at the impressive Todra Gorge for a short walk between its towering canyon walls. Continue through Boumalne Dades and the Valley of Roses, passing Ouarzazate once again.

    Cross the High Atlas Mountains in the afternoon, arriving back in Marrakech in the evening. Drop-off at your hotel or riad.
